Soi YIPUN, a place that brings craft from across Japan and the stories behind it to Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok, is opening soon.

Look for the red Japanese paper umbrella and the cherry blossom touches, and you'll find a little Japan inside the market. Here is a first look at the shop as it comes together ahead of opening.

About Soi YIPUN

Soi YIPUN is a project that brings craft from across Japan to Bangkok. Based at Chatuchak Weekend Market, we connect Japanese makers and brands with visitors from Thailand and around the world.

It is a place to show and sell, and also a place for conversation about making in Japan and Thailand. Ceramics, textiles, paper goods, accessories: we want to share carefully made Japanese products in a living market, face to face. That is why we are here.

The name comes from a small lane inside the market. The idea is simple: bring Japanese makers and curious visitors together in Bangkok.

Inside Soi YIPUN

A little Japan in the buzz of the market.

As you wander Chatuchak, you may spot a red Japanese paper umbrella and cherry blossom motifs. We are getting Soi YIPUN ready so that the space itself is as enjoyable as the shopping.

Warm wood, and the stories of the makers.

Beyond how things look, we hope you'll also learn how they are used and how they came to be made, and find something you love.

OPENING PREPARATION

The entrance alone doesn't show what's inside, so here are a few more angles. It is a compact space, with counter seating and shelves.

After wandering the market and finding your favourites, why not take a short break with a drink?

At Soi YIPUN we will be serving drinks such as coffee and matcha lattes. Drop in between shopping, or for a rest along your walk.

Our staff, and how to say hello.

While we're open, one Japanese staff member and one Thai staff member will be at the shop.

Feel free to ask about the products, the makers or Soi YIPUN. We hope to be a place that feels friendly and familiar, whether you live in Thailand or are visiting.

The decorations and fixtures are in place, and we are making our final preparations. The day we welcome you is getting close.
